PALIMPSEST (2018)

Lunn has been fascinated by the idea of the palimpsest ever since he was a painter at university interested in layers. Here he wanted to build a visual history and a rich surface that evoked old walls and tablets, half scratched away, with layers of history faintly visible. He achieves this by building up layers of reverse transfers from old magazines and using negative space from torn out illustrations, together with a muted colour palette that evokes a whisper.
